Favorite Books of 2012

For all my plans of reveling in the remaining holiday splendor, I’ve done little celebrating thanks to a minor bout of the flu.  However, I did discover that guzzling cups of hot water flavored with ginger and lemon is a good way to speed the recovery process.  Since I’m feeling semi-articulate, I thought I’d post some of my favorite books from this year.

Kiss of Night by Debbie Viguie

An unexpectedly intriguing story about a vampire’s search for salvation.

Jane Austen’s Emma by Marvel

The beautifully illustrated graphic novel captures the whimsy of this Jane Austen classic.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Thought provoking and even better than the movie.

Charlotte Au Chocolat by Charlotte Silver

A bitter sweet memoir about growing up in a restaurant family.

Wildwood by Colin Meloy

A magical mystery that delights the imagination.

The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson

A suspenseful twist in the overrun YA paranormal genre.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

A beautiful dream on the verge of a chilling nightmare.

The Distant Hours by Kate Morton

A moody glimpse into the secrets of the past.

What books captured your imagination this year?

  1. Sorry you have been sick. :( The last book looks like a great read. I might just download that on the Nook my son surprised me with for Christmas. I am finishing up Gone Girl – highly recommend it. Feel better, Sweets, and have a wonderful New Year’s Eve!! xo

  2. Somehow I missed your move to a new website and name! So glad I decided to go through my blog list and check it out. Good to see your posts again. I’ll have to check out a few of those books like Night Circus. I keep hearing so many good things about it. Hope your flu is done with and you are onto healthier times. Happy New Year!
