The Denim Overall Dress

I’m having a denim moment. Pants. Shirts. Dresses. I want everything in denim. So, naturally, I am in love with this denim overall dress from Madewell. I think of it as 70’s tomboy chic, an easy look to wear walking around town and exploring the hidden park by the river.

This weekend was pretty relaxed. I’m trying to make Sunday an unplug day, but it is so hard. I think I might have a teensy Internet addiction, and by might, I mean do. If I’m not sitting in front of my computer, I am looking at my phone or watching Netflix on TV. When I’m not staring at a screen, I’m not sure what to do with myself. Tell me I’m not the only one who feels this way…

Thankfully, I have a drawing class on Sundays, and it is nice to trade screen for paper. Slowly, my drawing is improving, and what I put on paper is actually starting to look like the object I’m trying to draw. Oh, the sweet taste of success.

  1. So cute! I too have been trying to unplug more this summer…perhaps in rebellion of all the flashing screens from my 14 year old getting her first iPod and my husband working from home. 😉

  2. I know what you mean I have a little bit of an internet addiction too and I do try to make one day completely free from it. My down falls is all the good internet shopping I am missing! Love your adorable denim dress! Looks so cute and makes the perfect piece to throw on for the weekend!

  3. That dress is so incredibly cute on you, Ashley!

I am the same way – total Internet addiction. I find that ballet and dance really helps to put my head in a different place – less focused on the Interwebs, and more focused on movement.

  4. How cool is this denim overall:) Very Alexa Chung.
And I love that you’re taking drawing classes. I’ve been teaching myself drawing, then oil painting for awhile, and I feel like my progress would have been faster if I had classes.

  5. I can completely relate to screen dependency! It’s so bad if I’m at a restaurant with one other person and they get up to use the restroom, I can not just sit and wait for them to come back, I have to take my phone out of my purse. Have to.

and i love that you are bringing back the overall dress.

  6. Nope, you’re not alone at all! I find it really difficult to intentionally unplug, but after 2-3 days of it I’m happy to never look at a screen again. It’s an awkward, but popular, addiction. 🙂

And you look adorable in your jumper! I’m so glad denim is back, and here to stay!
