Updating My Wardrobe for Fall With Stitch Fix

We are just days away from the official start of fall, which seems like a wonderful excuse to get another Stitch Fix box! Fix #3 is full of cute, autumn ready pieces…

The change of seasons is the perfect time to shop for new clothes. Here's how I'm updating my wardrobe for fall with Stitch Fix!

How Stitch Fix Works

  1.  Fill out a style profile and share your likes and dislikes with your stylist. I recommend putting together a Pinterest board.
  2. Schedule your box. They can be sent to you automatically or you can schedule a box one at a time.
  3. Pay $20 when your box is styled.
  4. Get excited while you wait for your box.
  5. Open your box and try on everything your stylist sends you.
  6. Decide what to keep and what to send back. (You have 3 days to do this.)
  7. Share your thoughts at check out so your stylist has a better idea of what to send you next time.
  8. Send back any pieces you don’t want. (Shipping is free!)

Inside Fix #3

The change of seasons is the perfect time to shop for new clothes. Here's how I'm updating my wardrobe for fall with Stitch Fix!

1. Unpublished Caelan Lace Back Detail Top – $64

You all know I love plaid, so I was pleased to find this plaid top with a lace detail back tucked away in my box. I thought long and hard about keeping this top, but in the end, I decided to go with a piece that wasn’t similar to what’s already hanging in my closet.

Verdict: Sent back.

2. Dear John Kyleigh Straight Leg Jean – $78

These are not my style of jeans, and paired with the plaid top, this look felt very Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm… These jeans were a very easy pass.

Verdict: Sent back.

3. Market & Spruce Chaplin Hooded Anorak Cargo Jacket – $88

An anorak jacket is on my fall wish list; however, I just ordered this Gap utility jacket in red, so I passed on this cute hooded jacket.

Verdict: Sent back.

4. 41Hawthorn Nio Pullover Sweater – $58

This cozy sweater felt very fall collegiate, but I felt the length of the sweater combined with the crew neck was too much for my short frame. While this was a pass, I’d love to find this sweater in a petite size.

Verdict: Sent back.

5. Lemon Tart Pereson Cutout Detail Knit Top – $68

If you watched the unboxing video, then you know how much I like this top. It’s so soft! I really like the v-neck and the color, making this top the winner of fix #3.

Verdict: Kept.

Thoughts…

I asked my stylist for casual, fall tops and jackets, and I thought she did a great job finding pieces that fit my style.

The change of seasons is the perfect time to shop for new clothes. Here's how I'm updating my wardrobe for fall with Stitch Fix!

Because I referred a friend, I received a $25 credit, which meant I didn’t have to pay for the styling fee. I was a bit disappointed with my last fix, but it taught me not to be so specific about what I’m looking for. Stitch Fix is a great service if you are looking to update your wardrobe, but it’s not a styling service in the sense that they can hunt down certain pieces for you.

I prefer to shop sales, but it’s fun to get a box full of clothes that have been picked out just for me. While this service isn’t great for budget shoppers, it’s wonderful if you don’t have a lot of time to shop for yourself. Plus, it’s nice that the $20 styling fee is put towards your purchase, and if you keep all five pieces, you receive a 25% discount.

  1. I really need to give this service a try. I love all of the pieces chosen for you and from what I’ve seen, they match your sunny & upbeat personality perfectly. LOVE LOVE LOVE those red boots and that jacket. THUMBS UP!

  2. Love the knit top you kept! Also a big fan of that jacket! A great fix overall – it’s fun to see what others get 🙂 perhaps I need to schedule another soon for myself…

  3. I just recently tried using stitch fix again, this time for maternity clothing, which I’d heard they did a good job with. I always struggle with Stitch Fix because my sister and mother have great luck with it. I think I’m too picky. This one was particularly frustrating though because I didn’t have anything specific in mind and it turned out nothing fit (too long pants and shirts that were too short for a belly to fit). Still… fun to try, right? Especially when the referral credit means not having to pay the styling fee 🙂

  4. I always guess whether you kept it or sent it back before I scroll down. So far I’m batting 1000 and are the same choices I’d make for you as well! Great keep with that top…the color is so pretty in you!

  5. I think you’re right… I’ve asked for specific pieces from Stitch Fix and usually I’m not sent exactly what I had in mind. I think it is fun and they do send trendy items or things you would normally not pick for yourself. I love the item you chose! The color is very pretty! I was sent an olive cargo jacket last year and I almost kept it! I still wish I had at times! lol!

  6. Nice that you received the voucher for referring a friend! I liked the item that you kept, it looks nice and soft and the color is sooo beautiful! I liked the parka; so sad you had to send back most of the items, but the top/sweater you kept is really cool! I heard of StitchFix from a blogger friend of mine, I think it’s a great idea!

  7. Want to know what is weird? I was just thinking about how much I loved my latest Stitch Fix, just a few minutes ago. They sent me completely different items, but I loved them. Totally worth the $20 styling fee. LOVE your jacket Ashley!

  8. I will totally try Stich Fix if and when I ever lose weight. I have a hard time finding things that fit my frame. However, I have had a lot of success at Nordstrom Rack and Banana Republic for great fall stuff!
