If only real circuses were as magical as The Night Circus. I would totally run away and join Le Cirque des Rêves. While I’m waiting for the book to be made into a movie, I’m dressing as a circus performer for another round of Halloween in Your Closet.
Inspired by tightrope walkers, this circus performer costume can easily be recreated with items you probably already have in your closet. A tulle skirt, ballet flats, and umbrella are enough to get you going, and you can pile on the accessories as you see fit. I made the tulle skirt and posted about it here. For accessories, I grabbed a fascinator headband, vintage leather gloves, and seamed fishnet tights.
If I did run away to the circus, I’d want to be a tightrope walker or a trapeze artist. I like defying gravity. If you’re in the mood for another circus read, Girl on a Wire is really good.
What’s your favorite circus performer?
P.S. For another quick and easy Halloween costume idea, don’t miss Sleeping Beauty Queen!
