Halloween in Your Closet: Evil Queen

Happy Halloween! The spooktacular day is finally here. Do you have a costume? No? Well, you’re in luck because I’m full of ideas!

If you’re looking for a costume that’s perfect for everyday, check out Hipster Pocahontas. For a little workplace Halloween fun, try the Snapchat Flower Crown Filter DIY. If you’re partying at home, Sleeping Beauty Queen will keep you comfy through a night of trick-or-treaters. For those going out, Circus Performer is a quick and clever costume.

But, if you’re looking for a costume in your closet that’s a bit more Halloween, might I suggest going as the Evil Queen?

As a fan of Once Upon A Time, I’ve longed to get my hands on Evil Queen Regina’s fabulous wardrobe. The clothes. The jewels. The attitude. Regina’s wardrobe showed that there’s an upside to being the evil queen.

Okay, not everyone is going to have a coat like this in their closet. I made this coat and wore it for fashion wear at Captivating Pageants. For the sewers out there, I used the McCall’s pattern M6818, which was easy to adjust and is a pattern I definitely recommend.

I paired the coat with  faux leather leggings from Wet Seal (similar) and the Rag & Bone Classic Newbury Booties (c/o Shopbop). Of course I couldn’t resist adding some sparkly jewelry. Giant cocktail rings and chandelier earrings are a must for any evil queen.

  1. Oh, my goodness. I didn’t even recognize you! LOOOOVE these pictures (and the sepia-feel quality of them). You look amazing. And that’s amazing that you made your own coat 🙂 You might have yourself a career as a seamstress/designer one day, #justsayin’ 🙂

  2. Such a fabulous coat! And it’s even more special because you made it yourself. I’m no stranger to re-purposing an occasion garment for Halloween either. I’ll use any excuse to wear my most fabulous pieces, even if it is for a costume. That just means I can go all out with the styling. Love the background, props, and filter on these photos too. So spooky and magical!
