Glossies Made Me Do It: Red Velvet Heart Cookies

Welcome to the February edition of Glossies Made Me Do It, a monthly series I am doing with Erika of Cat Eyes & Skinny Jeans and Lauren of Shooting Stars Mag!

Glossies made me do it...!

As soon as I saw the Red Velvet Heart Cookies on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens, I knew I had to make them. The cookies look like the perfect Valentine’s Day treat. Plus, I love anything red velvet.

I made a few adjustments to the recipe, cutting the sugar in half and consequently not adding the full amount of cocoa. Since I am eating mostly gluten-free, I used gluten free flour instead of all-purpose.

I used a vegetable based red food coloring, so my cookies do not have the bright red like the ones in the magazine.

But, pink velvet cookies are just as tasty! You can find the recipe for the Red Velvet Heart Cookies here or in the February 2017 issue of Better Homes & Gardens.

  1. What a fun idea this is–and your cookies look amazing! I didn’t know you were eating gluten free… I tried this, but haven’t stuck with it in a while.

    Happy weekend, my sweet!

  2. These look DELISH! And so pretty! For me, it’s Pinterest that sucks me in. Looking back through boards I’ve curated over the years – especially recipes – is dangerous! Because I curated the boards, everything looks appealing and so I want all the things. And then I get overwhelmed and make nothing. lol But I did make some Valentine’s Day desserts this year.

I will say that I tore a ton of pages out of InStyle this month to put on my inspiration board. I pinned up some outfit inspiration featuring pleated skirts and a styling tip on belting an open leather jacket. Thankfully I can recreate these looks with pieces already in my closet!

  3. These look fantastic! I wish I could have sugar or carbs right now, so I could make them, too. But instead, I’ll just drool over your photos. 🙂

  4. My favorite issues of glossies is the Valentine issue. Like Martha Stewart Living and BHG. I LOVE Valentine cookies. You did a good job, and awesome about gluten-free!
