Throw out expired makeup

It can take me a long time to finish up a product, and I hate just throwing it away. However, old makeup can cause breakouts, and old mascara can even cause eye infections. (Need a new mascara? This is one of my faves!) Use this handy chart to know when to throw stuff away. Don’t know what to do with your old makeup? Here are five brands that reward you for recycling!

Opt for a lighter moisturizer

A heavy cream can be great during the cold, dry months of winter, but come spring, that heavy cream can feel suffocating. Recently, I swapped my winter moisturizer out for this one, and my skin is so happy that I did.

Clean your makeup brushes

As I type this, I have a bunch of dirty makeup brushes waiting to be washed. This has been on my to-do list for at least a month… Oops. Dirty brushes can mean more breakouts as well just not being as effective. Here’s how to clean your brushes. Also, there are a few other beauty tools you’ll want to clean, too. (And, can we just talk about how beautiful these unicorn makeup brushes are?)

Try a new gadget

I’ve long been curious about epilators, so when Lipton Publicity contacted me about trying the Emjoiยฎ Epi Slim+ e18, I was excited to give it a try. The 18 tweezer discs looked a little intimidating, but the Emjoi epilator is easy to use. It’s pretty much just like tweezing, except that you are pulling several hairs out at one time. The size is perfect for travel, and since the epilator is battery operated, there’s no cord to get tangled in. At $34.95, the Emjoiยฎ Epi Slim+ e18 is a beauty gadget that won’t break the bank.

Embrace dry brushing

From Goop to Birchbox, it seems like everyone is touting the benefits of dry brushing. I like to take a minute or two before my bath for dry brushing. With a $5 brush, you can give yourself a mini spa experience at home.

  11. Oh these are all great tips for spring. Yeah I switch from using a body oil in winter to a light lotion in summer and I recently went through a major makeup cleanup and have a bag filled with half used makeup and makeup cases and containers, though I am not sure what to do with it all.

  12. I’m really bad about cleaning my makeup brushes. When it gets to the breaking point, I inevitably order a new set instead of washing my existing ones. I even bought a brush cleanser, but so far, I haven’t used it. And now that I’m seeing those unicorn brushes, it’s all the more tempting to just buy a new set!

  13. There are certainly some things I need to get rid of. I have eye shadow that can go, but for some reason I keep holding on to it.
Time for makeup spring cleaning over here.
