Life Lately: So many books, so little time

From melt-in-your-mouth chocolate cookies to a summer blockbuster and books galore, here's a look at my life lately.

Life lately…

Baking: Melty Chocolate-Truffle Cookies. These bite size, melt-in-your-mouth, chocolate cookies are so yummy and are a great way to get your daily dose of chocolaty goodness. Covered in powdered sugar, these cookies are pretty to look at, too. I should have taken pictures, but I was to busy eating them.

Celebrating: My birthday. Last month, I celebrated getting another year older with tasty tacos, a mom-made chocolate cake, and oodles of prezzies. At 32, I am still mistaken for a college and even a high school student. Some people tell me it’s a good thing to look so young, but mostly, I think people are just weirded out when they realize how old I actually am…

Watching: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Not as good as the original, but it was still a fun movie. The last half really picked up, and I love that the idea of family plays such an important role in the story.

Reading: So many books… I read this hot new thriller as well as a cute, YA romance. I’m participating in the BookSparks Summer Reading Challenge, so I’ll be posting plenty of book recommendations throughout the summer.

Rehearsing: The King and I. I’m super excited about being involved in this production. We are in our last few weeks of rehearsals before showtime. I’ve already reached that stage where I’ve started using show dialogue in everyday conversations. It will only get worse from here.

  1. My husband and youngest daughter went to see Guardians of the Galaxy together, they loved it. They came home and raved about how funny it was, which made the three of us who didn’t go wonder if we should’ve.

I love when people think I’m younger than I am. I use to hate that, but now I kind of relish in it. Let me correct myself, not kind of, I relish in it.. a lot. I got carded last week!! YAY!
Wishing you all the best this year and every year!!
    XOXO

  2. Hey girl,
Forgive me if I sound like a weirdo but your first image in this post, you look so happy and pretty. 🙂
Definitely take it as a compliment that you look young. On the flip side, would you like people saying you look 55? Younger is better. I always get that I look young but one time, some guy said I could pass for 35 and I was at the time, I believe, around 18 or 20. I was thoroughly insulted.

Guardians of the Galaxy was great, eh? I enjoyed it! 🙂

Have a great day hun and a lovely weekend ahead.

  3. So awesome that you will be in the King and I! I’ve only ever seen the movie, but I loved it! 🙂 And a happy (belated) birthday!!

  4. Yay for some great books! Happy Belated Birthday! I’m glad you had a lovely time celebrating. 🙂 I’m often mistaken for being much younger than I am. I just turned 27 and I work at a college, and people often think I’m a student (I’m not). Funny story – when I graduated from undergrad, I went out and someone else had graduated from college too and they talked to my dad and apparently thought I’d graduated high school. hah

  5. Happy belated birthday! Chocolate truffle cookies sounds amazing! One of my goals this month is to finish reading this book that I started last month. Hopefully I am able to read two books in June.

  6. That’s a great portrait of you above. Happy Birthday. My BFF has your “problem” of looking younger than she is. She hated it in her twenties and thirties but boy did she appreciate it in her forties and fifties! She’s still mistaken for someone half her age. Thanks for the word on “Guardians…2;” I plan to see it. Couldn’t imagine it being better than the first one.

  7. Happy Birthday! I just realized we are the same age, roughly (my birthday is in August but…close enough.)

  8. I always love reading about what books you’re reading and what you’re baking! Sounds like heaven! 🙂 Happy birthday, btw!! In the last several years I’ve finally been able to check out without getting carded when I buy wine or alcohol, although I have my 8 and 11 year old with me SOOO… I’m just hoping that’s why! LOL!

  9. Stopping by from the link up.

I definitely would not complain about looking young – I used to be mistaken for much younger than I am and I always thought “I’ll be glad I look younger when I’m 50!”. It was a bit weird when I was ID’d buying wine in Austria at 23 though (for reference, the age to be wine in Austria is 16). The poor girl was more embarrassed than I was though 🙂

  10. It always makes my day when I get carded. We live on the same street as Smith College and the best day of my life was being mistaken for a college student! (not really the best day of my life)
Those cookies look amazing. I loved GOTG 2 even better than the original!

  11. Happy 32! I felt the same way about Guardians 2. It was fun, but not as good. Still totally entertained me though. How fun to be in The King and I! I loved the movie version as a kid and still haven’t seen the stage show.

  12. Aw, yay for all good things! What are you doing/playing in The King and I?
Also, happy belated birthday! 32 is a fun age.

  13. ooh that cute ya looks.. well, super cute!
i am seriously considering going to the jane austen festival. i don’t know why i haven’t before as it’s literally in my city lol.
    happy belated birthday!
