The last few weeks have been busy, so I haven’t had time to do a lot of baking. While I enjoy trying new recipes for this series, this month I decided to do something different and turned to Entertainment Weekly for ideas. I love checking out “The Must List” for the latest pop culture happenings. This week’s issue listed Mogul, a podcast about the life and death of Chris Lighty, in its top ten.
I know very little about hip-hop, but I enjoy biographies, so I found this series fascinating. Lighty came from the streets of New York to become a legendary hip-hop manager. To outsiders, Lighty had it all, but in 2012 he committed suicide, leaving his friends and family devastated.
Mogul: The Life and Death of Chris Lighty doesn’t shy away from Lighty’s flaws but still celebrates his achievements while mourning his loss. In a society that is very slowly starting to discuss suicide and metal illness, I think podcasts like this are very important, especially since celebrities are role models to many and are seen as examples of people who have it all.
Because of violence and language, you’ll want headphones if you listen to this with little ears around, but this six-part series is not to be missed.
What did glossies make you do this month?
