Will Amazon Outfit Compare help you decide what to wear?

Do you ever have trouble deciding between two different outfits and wish there was someone you could ask for style advice? Well, Amazon is here to help.

Hidden within the free Amazon Shopping app is Outfit Compare, which allows you to upload two outfit photos and see which one Amazon’s stylists pick.

I’ve been playing around with the app for a few weeks, and here are my results.

What I like about Amazon Outfit Compare

  • It only takes a few minutes to get feedback.
  • It’s an easy way to get a second opinion on a look.
  • The style scale keeps feedback positive.
  • You can upload mirror selfies.
  • The feature is free for Amazon Prime members.

What I dislike about Amazon Outfit Compare

  • There’s no explanation about why one outfit was picked over another.
  • You don’t know who you are getting advice from. According to Amazon, their stylists “come from varied backgrounds in the fashion, retail, editorial, styling and creative fields. They have honed their expertise through ongoing training focusing on personal style, seasonal trends and more.” It’s all a bit vague.
  • I didn’t always agree with their outfit pick.

This styling tool is a fun and easy way to get a second opinion on a look or to help you decided between two different outfits. In the end, I think you should wear the look you like best, but sometimes it’s easier to know what you like after getting feedback from someone else.

  1. I actually agreed with Amazon each time, lol! This is too fun! I don’t know that I’d use it all that often, but what a unique feature! I’d never heard of it! Thanks for sharing!! (And also, all your outfit combos look good!)

  2. I had no idea they had this service! We have Amazon Prime, so I might give it a try. It sounds more helpful than my husband, who never has an opinion.

  3. WOW! This is cool! I never knew this existed. We have Prime so I’m going to try it. I think I’ll put up one really ugly outfit and one nice one just to see if they pick the “definitely pick this one” option. HA! I’m also questioning a bit who/how they pick, but it’s still pretty fun. Thanks for the info!

  4. I had no idea this was on their app. I liked all the outfits. What happened if you clicked the “Learn more” part. Was that where they went to explain their stylists came from varied backgrounds?

  5. I don’t think I agreed with all of Amazon’s choices either. I liked some better than others. It’s a shame you don’t get to know who’s choosing as fashion is always a matter of personal opinion.

  6. Wow, I didn’t even know this existed. I do really like that it considers mirror selfies. But like you said, I don’t like that it doesn’t give a reason why one outfit was picked over another.

  7. I had no idea this existed! Now can you write a post on how to take a full body selfie? You would have laughed at me trying to take one in a dressing room yesterday…
