Three things I learned from magazines this month (Glossies Made Me Do It!)

Welcome to the November edition of Glossies Made Me Do It, a monthly series I’m hosting with Lauren of Shooting Stars Mag and  Erika of Cat Eyes & Skinny Jeans!

This month I learned how to get artwork texted to me, an easy way to deep clean my hair, and an easy way to make cinnamon rolls. What did glossies make you do this month?

Text this to get art on your phone…

I love flipping through the Live Your Best Life section of O, The Oprah Magazine because I always discover something new. This month,  I learned that the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art will send you a picture from its collection if you text “Send me” plus a noun, adjective, or an emoji to 572-51. It’s a fun way to get artwork on your phone.

Deep clean your hair with this simple trick…

I have thick hair that gets oily very fast, but shampooing every day makes my hair dry. Redbook’s “Sneaky Strategies for Better Hair” suggests once a week adding a teaspoon of granulated sugar into a blob of shampoo to get rid of dirt and product buildup. I tried this last week, and my hair has felt squeaky clean since.

Make cinnamon rolls using pizza dough…

One of the problems with a gluten-free diet is not being able to find delicious baked goods like cinnamon rolls. However, Midwest Living has a trick I’m eager to try. Their Lazy Morning Cinnamon Rolls call for purchased pizza dough in order to make these breakfast treats. You just roll out the dough and top with your cinnamon filling before rolling the dough up. Genius! I can’t wait to turn my favorite gluten-free pizza dough into cinnamon rolls.

  1. I love that tip about the sugar in the hair! My hair gets crazy product buildup because I’m *trying* to use a bit less shampoo for cleaning (it dries out my hair during the colder weather months) so I’ll have to try this 🙂 Hope you have a great weekend 🙂

  2. I love Oprah! I miss her on TV! I have never bought her magazine, but I might just one day. I might learn something aswell from reading it. I probably will, I mean, it’s Oprah! 🙂

  3. Oh I never thought of cinnamon rolls with pizza dough before, that would be a quick way to try it! 🙂

I should give the sugar in the shampoo trick a go too, might fix my weird hair at the moment. I’ve been a bit unwell lately and it’s somehow reached my hair now, it’s a mess, probably rebelling at not getting pampered as much as usual!

Hope you are having a lovely weekend 🙂

  4. I really need to try that making cinnamon rolls using pizza dough because while I do love buying canned cinnamon rolls, they are expensive in Canada. I think I’d be able to make more out of the dough. And they sound super yummy!
