As much as I don’t want the year to fly by, I am happy to see the end of February. I’m tired of snow and would really like the weather to make up its mind and embrace spring already. Here’s a quick look at what I’ve been up to lately.
Reading: Dreaming in Chocolate by Susan Bishop Crispell. BookSparks sent me this book to review as part of their Winter Reading Challenge, and the book is delightful. All I had to know was magical chocolates, and I was in. However, the book isn’t all light and fluffy. Penelope Dalton’s keeping two big secrets from her town. One, her daughter, Ella, is dying. Two, Ella’s father is the recently returned Noah, who is threatening to break Penelope’s heart all over again. The cozy story is a wonderful winter read. The only thing missing is the recipe for fate changing cocoa.
Watching: The Olympics. I grew up watching figure skating. The infamous 1994 Games really kicked off my love for the sport. For the last several Olympics, I’ve known people competing, so it makes the Games feel a bit more personal. This month, I cheered on four people I used to train with and watched them compete in ice dancing. It’s a little reminder that dreams really do come true for some people. That’s a beautiful thing to see.
Swapping: Jewelry for the Spread The Love gift exchange. I was paired with Lindsay from Bourbon Lipstick and Stilettos. Lindsay sent me this beautiful tassel necklace from Sugarfix by Baublebar, and I sent her earrings from my Chloe & Isabel boutique. I love long necklaces, so I know I’m going to wear this a lot. Thanks Lindsay!
Seeing: Beautiful – The Carole King Musical. This show is fantastic, which isn’t surprising when you know that the music is going to be great. I don’t know a lot about Carole King, but the show gives her backstory and follows her early start in the music business and ends when she creates her album, Tapestry. So good!
