Drop In: Lead with Deeper Presence and Courage by Sara Harvey Yao*

Paying special attention to those in leadership roles, Sara challenges the assumption that busy is better. She encourages the reader to block a chunk of time (white space) in order to drop in and ask yourself what you need. She, also, discusses deep listening, meditation, and the importance of the hero’s journey.

The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg

One of my favorite books on habits! Charles explains why habits exist and how they can be changed. What could be a very dry report on the study of habits is actually a fascinating story about people who were controlled by or changed their habits to transform their lives.

What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast: And Two Other Short Guides to Achieving More at Work and at Home by Laura Vanderkam

This quick read discusses ways you can transform your mornings and become more productive. Some of my favorite tips are doing important things in the morning, making a list of 100 dreams, and planning weekends.

Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person by Shonda Rhimes

Even though I don’t watch any of her shows, I enjoyed reading Shonda Rhimes’ memoir about changing her life by saying yes. Her book definitely makes me want to seize the day and every opportunity that comes my way.

Passionate Nutrition: A Guide to Using Food as Medicine from a Nutritionist Who Healed Herself from the Inside Out by Jennifer Adler*

Jennifer is a Certified Nutritionist as well as founder and owner of Passionate Nutrition. In her book, Jennifer discusses The Food As Medicine Movement™ and how she was able to rebuild her life after a childhood of neglect and poor nutrition. The memoir/guide book/cookbook is easy to understand and emphasizes eating healthy food to treat problems such as anxiety, depression, weight issues, and digestive stress.

Go Clean, Sexy You: A Seasonal Guide to Detoxing and Staying Healthy by Lisa Consiglio Ryan*

Lisa encourages readers to cut out certain foods, such as dairy, caffeine, gluten and soy, and to eat plenty of clean produce, such as avocados and pineapple. Her book is full of soups, salads, smoothies, and other treats She, also, tells you what kitchen gear you will need and includes a menu plan and shopping list for each detox.
