• Inspired By Meet Me in St. Louis

Meet Me in St. Louis is one of those films that can be enjoyed all year round, but it is especially enjoyable at Christmas. The movie stars Judy Garland and follows the Smiths, a St. Louis family, throughout the year as they anticipate the opening of the 1904 World’s Fair. One of the most beautiful scenes in the movie is when Judy Garland sings “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas”. However, my favorite scene is the Christmas ball, where the two oldest sisters shine in gorgeous velvet dresses.

The costumes in Meet Me in St. Louis are the perfect blend of Victorian fashion and 1940’s style, and I think Judy Garland’s red velvet dress is the perfect example of that. I’ve dreamed of this dress ever since I saw the movie when I was a little girl, so I had to put together a modern look inspired by it.
