It’s no secret that I love trying new subscription boxes, so I was beyond excited when I got the chance to collaborate with a brand new book subscription this month. Hello Book Lover offers two books every month and you can choose one or let them surprise you. Plus, each package comes with additional goodies.
An email is sent the 15th of the month with your book selections for the following month, and you have three days to choose. The May selections were Brooklyn by Colm Toibin and Longbourn by Jo Baker. I decided to be surprised, so let’s see what’s inside…
♥ The Subscription: Hello Book Lover
♥ The Cost: $28/month plus shipping
♥ The Products: Choice of book plus 2-3 surprise items
♥ Ships to: US

Inside the May box:
♥ Longbourn by Jo Baker
♥ Heart tote
♥ HBL bookmark
♥ HBL sticker
♥ HBL info card
I really like that Hello Book Lover lets you choose your book because it can be frustrating to receive a book you already have. And, if you do a month to month subscription, you can skip a month, which is nice if you’ve already read both books.
Like many book subscriptions, this box isn’t a steal, but the books are thoughtfully curated, and I like that each month has a theme. At the end of every month, there will be a book club, where you can share your thoughts on that month’s selections.
The June theme is In Bloom and the selections are Eight Hundred Grapes by Laura Dave and The Signature of All Things by Elizabeth Gilbert. You have until the 15th of the month to subscribe to the next month’s box, so it’s not too late to grab a June selection. Plus, you can save 10% off your first month with the code HAPPY10. You can subscribe here.
Do you have a favorite book subscription?
Hello Book Lover sent me this box to review, but all opinions stated are my own. Also, this blog uses affiliate and referral links. Clicking a link costs you nothing, but the small commission from your click/purchase helps support this blog. Thank you!
No.Way. I’ve never heard of this, but totally want to try this out. Thanks for the introduction to Hello Book Lover (what a cute name!).
Ooh how fun! I have always wanted to be part of a book subscription box program like this.
It’s really nicely presented and the tote bag is cute. It’s cool that you get to make your own book selections.
It seems like a cute idea but that sure does seem like a lot, I was expecting more than 1 book for that price.

Very nice box, I like the concept. How fun that you picked the surprise option 🙂
It’s always so interesting to me how much better priced books (often) are in the States, as here I was, a Canadian, thinking that two books plus the extra goodies were rather a nice deal for just $28.00. 🙂
This looks like a great subscription service and one that would definitely appeal to me (a perpetual bookworm) as well.

book lovers will LOVE this. cute tote too.
I’ve never really done a subscription box of any kind, but as a book lover, I can so appreciate something like this:)
I remember thinking this sounded like a cool subscription when you shared your last one. Enjoy the books!

This sounds great! I could go overboard with subscription boxes, but I love them. It’s a great gift idea too!
a book box!!Definitely the best one!!
This looks so lovely
You are truly the queen of subscription boxes! What a cool idea! I just might look into this for my mom – she loves reading!
Thank you so much for sharing this! I had never heard of it before. I love the idea of a subscription book service, especially one that gives you the option to pick the book and to skip a month. My only issue is that it costs $28 for one book. I don’t really care about the little extras that come with the package, just the book. I’m paying around $10 per book these days. But I will check out their blog for great recommendations (but you always have good recs, too).
What! I would love this! Reading rocks!

This is a monthly box that is great if you are a fast reader, or have to read a lot, what a great idea. But yeah the price is a bit high unless you average two books a month. But for those that do it sounds like a no brainer.
